MASTER OF CHRISTIAN COUNSELING M.C.C. 44 Credit Hours Required CP - 502 Introduction to Christian Counseling 4 Credits A study of the Biblical foundations of Christian counseling. The fundamentals of counseling techniques and spiritual guidance will be emphasized. CP - 503 Mastering Pastoral Counseling 4 Credits A practical course of equip the pastor, minister, or lay persons to recognize and biblically deal with the emotional, psychological, and spiritual issues confronting individuals and families in the Christian church. CP - 506 The Ethics Counseling 4 Credits The student is challenged to develop a biblical position with regard to such concerns as homosexuality, divorce and remarriage, crisis-pregnancy options, and other important issues. Legal and ethical concerns such as confidentiality, privileged communications, duty to protect life, preventing suicide, reporting physical and sexual abuse ofchildren, and other issues are examined. CP - 611 Counseling the Depressed 4 Credits A study of the methods and techniques of counseling persons dealing with depression and related issues,such as rejection and low self-esteem. A biblical and Christian response will be the major focus. CP - 612 Crisis Counseling 4 Credits This course is designed to help the student to formulate a theology of ministry which will allow him/her to respond to a crisis situation. The nature of crisis in real life situations is surveyed and effective pastoral counseling responses rooted in Christian theology and pastoral care are critiqued. CP -613 Marriage and Family Counseling 4 Credits A comprehensive course designed to equip the students to understand the holistic dynamics of marriage and family relationship in regards to premarital, marital, and family counseling. MM - 506 Advanced Christian Ethics 4 Credits An intensive study and research of moral and ethical issues that are of immediate concern to the church, society, and Christianity as a whole. TH - 501 Advanced Systematic Theology 4 Credits An intensive and comprehensive study of major doctrines of the Christian faithfrom a biblical foundation. The nature of theology, its methods, and claims are discussed. CP - 617 Directed Thesis 4 Credits Required of all students in the Master Degree program. The student will be assigned to an Academic Advisor and the parameters for the thesis will be set by QCBC. Students will be required to submit their thesis research and findings on the subject agreed upon with their Academic Advisor. |
